In many parts of the world the type and style of promotional clothing declare membership of their religion, caste particularly. A Muslim woman wears a hijjab as an identification of her religion. A male Sikh wears a turban as a mark of his religion. A French peasant wears a cap as an identification of her village. Commonly used clothing materials are wool, cotton, silk, flax, hemp, lyocell, ramie and other synthetic fibers such as polyester and nylon. Western fashion and western styles have more impact on other countries. Even the poor are ready to spend a little on western clothing style. No- longer wearable clothing was considered as raw material for bandages rag rugs and many other household items. It is also recycled into paper. Used but still wearable clothes could be sold at flea markets, online auction, consignment shops or could be just donated to charity. The culture or the tradition has been changed to a very great extent that the people use ethnic or the national dress only on special occasion. For instance the Japanese women have started using the western style dress for daily wear but still wear silk Kimonos on special occasions.
